Based on provider feedback regarding implementation of the Lab Benefit Manager (LBM), UPMC Health Plan is moving the implementation date to March 1, 2022. The change in implementation date will allow additional time for provider education, addressing provider questions, and allowing providers to familiarize themselves with the LBM policies and LBM Claims Advice Tool. The effective date of the LBM Policies & Procedures (MP.A001 through MP.A074) will be changed to 3/1/22; they will remain available for providers to view on the UPMC Health Plan Policies and Procedures webpage. The new LBM policies are located at: https://www.upmchealthplan.com/providers/medical/resources/manuals/policies-procedures.aspx In addition, all current UPMC Health Plan Policies and Procedures applicable to laboratory services will remain in effect through Dec. 31, 2021. The LBM Claims Advice Tool will remain active on Provider OnLine to give providers the ability to review claims that will be subject to the LBM Policies and Procedures effective 3/1/22.
